How Far Can You See? (Sharpen Your Vision)
As a home-based business owner, you’re likely very aware of how difficult it can be to persist in the face of all of the daily challenges that typically face you as a wife and mom. Many moms with amazing dreams of success fail to realize those dreams for themselves and their families because often the path to such success is riddled with barriers, hurdles, and landmines that threaten to derail them so that they never reach their destination. Does this sound like your situation? If it does, rest assured…you’re not alone. In fact, most moms who run home-based businesses experience the exact same thing.
The question that moms in this situation often ask is “How do I keep going?” They often want to know how it is possible to persist in the face of so many challenges and barriers to personal and professional progress. In my experience, those who have overcome, and have reached major goals in their lives have done so because of this one thing:
THEY HAD VERY CLEAR VISION!
They could see the end of the journey, and could see themselves living that dream which was the major reason they started their businesses in the first place. They could see themselves succeeding at the very thing that they’re getting up in the morning everyday and working so diligently to build. Often, the cares of life threaten to steal away our dreams. Over time, we can find that our dreams fade gradually away, and with those fading dreams, comes diminishing desire, reduced work effort, and low motivation to persist in the quest toward the goal. Ladies, this is our greatest enemy as business owners.
You’re probably asking how we can prevent this from happening, and I have a few suggestions for you:
- If you’re currently building a home-based business, it’s important that you write out your dream so that you can see it on paper. Once you’ve written it out, you want to read it each and every day. Once a day is good but, if possible, read it in the morning when you wake up, and then again at night before you go to bed.
- Write out your business goals each week and and review them at the end of every week to see how you made progress toward those goals. This will help keep you accountable to yourself to remain productive even in the face of daily hassles you will inevitably face throughout the week.
- Find a mentor or coach to help you to stay focused on your dreams and to help guide you to the business you’re working so hard to create. Sometimes, when we struggle with whether we’re doing the right things to grow our businesses, we lose motivation and desire to do the necessary things to keep our businesses moving forward. A mentor or coach will help reassure you that you are on the right path and will help sharpen your vision so that you can see clearly the association between what you’re doing and your eventual goal.
- Join a local Networking group or mastermind group. These opportunities to connect with other business owners will serve as motivation and will help you to build a better business as you will learn from others’ experiences and benefit from their advice.
Give these suggestions a try, and you will soon find that your dreams for your life and your business will become so vibrant that you’ll find it easy to get up in the morning and go to work to build that business of your dreams!
