Stop and Smell The Roses!

Stop and Smell The Roses!

As a mom with active children, I can at times lose sight of just how much I have to be thankful for.  Because life can be so busy in my household, I often forget to stop and “smell the roses” to see all that is taking place in my life and all that I bring to my family on a daily basis.  As a home-based business owner, I have found that because my business has so many different aspect which need my full attention everyday, it can seem at times like I am moving forward at a snail’s pace…if at all.  Because I’m naturally a details person, I tend to more easily see the “problems” that present themselves on a regular basis and can focus on the many to-do’s rather than look at the whole picture and see all that is good and positive in my business.

If any of that resonates with you, then I’d like to encourage you today that you’re definitely not alone, and I’d like to offer you some advice from experiences in my own life that might help you as you work to effectively balance your work and home lives.

One thing I’ve learned, especially since becoming a parent, is that each day will bring it’s unique challenges for sure…but it will also bring unique opportunities for me to celebrate all the good that the day brings.  The simple truth is that my kids will be kids…and they will “get on my last nerve” more often than I’d like…but when I step back and really take a look at the true blessings that they are to me and all of the good they bring to my life, I realize that I have so much to be thankful for, and there is no better place I’d rather be than right where I am.

If you’re currently feeling the pinch that balancing family life and building a business create, I want to encourage you to take some time throughout your day…maybe just a minute or two when you have a moment to breathe and reflect upon your day…and look for the good that is happening all around you.  Trust me, it is happening!  When your kids seem to be pestering you with their incessant cries for “Mom”, and their seemingly endless needs, see it as an opportunity for you to revel in the fact that this is a season of life where you get to be at the center of their world.  This won’t always be the case, but for now, enjoy every moment that you have with them (the good and the bad) as there will soon be a day when you’ll long to have those moments back.
